The Not-So-Well-Known History of International Kendo Competitions

The history of the World Kendo Championships (WKC) stretches back 48 years. The first WKC was held in 1970 at the Nippon Budokan, and this year, the championships goes to Korea for its seventeenth edition. However, there have been a number of international kendo competitions that predate the 1st WKC making a history of over 50 years. One such event was the International Goodwill Kendo Club World Championships.
